Montreux
The soil in Montreux is of an alpine moraine type. These soils contain a large proportion of gravel, which the Rhone glacier deposited when it retreated 15,000 years ago. The composition of this soil varies according to its topographical position. The wines of certain vintages display their assets as soon as they are bottled in springtime. They are distinguished by their fruitiness and a rather restrained acidity.
